Arsenal proved that their 2022/23 title challenge was not a fluke: as they took the 2023/24 race to the final day of the season with Manchester City.

The Gunners were once again in exceptional form following the turn of the year and headed into the final 10 games fractionally ahead of Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the table, while their recent scoring prowess has boosted their goal difference to a healthier state than that of their closest rivals.

Mikel Arteta's side showed their improvements as they kept their bottle in the toughest of circumstances but ultimately fell short of Pep Guardiola's inevitable Manchester City.

Here, The Sporting News has a breakdown of Arsenal's title run in scores and a look back at some of our predictions.

Arsenal prediction and scores for run-in 2023/24: How many did we get right?

Here's a run-down of Arsenal's scores, and our predictions before the games.

Man City (A): March 31

A repeat of Arsenal's 4-1 thrashing at a similar stage of last season always felt highly unlikely. City dominated possession but there were very few chances to speak of throughout a game that was hardly a classic.

Result last season: Man City 4-1 Arsenal
Prediction this season: Man City 2-2 Arsenal
Final score: Man City 0-0 Arsenal

Luton Town (H): April 3

Luton have put up a commendable fight in their first Premier League season, but this ended up being a routine home win for a rotated Gunners line-up after captain Martin Odegaard opened the scoring

Result last season: N/A
Prediction this season: Arsenal 4-1 Luton Town
Final score: Arsenal 2-0 Luton Town

Brighton (A): April 6

In perhaps their most commanding performance of 2024, the Gunners cruised to victory on the south coast. Saka dispatched from the spot to give Arsenal the lead before Havertz doubled it later in the second half. Trossard then rubbed salt in Brighton's wounds as he cutely chipped home to make it three.

Result last season: Brighton 2-4 Arsenal
Prediction this season: Brighton 0-3 Arsenal
Final score: Brighton 0-3 Arsenal

Aston Villa (H): April 14

We had this as a draw given Villa's need to earn points in the Champions League race and due to their performance against some of the big sides this season in previous games. But this was a truly outstanding display that left Arsenal stunned.

Result last season: Arsenal 2-1 Aston Villa
Prediction this season: Arsenal 1-1 Aston Villa
Final score: Arsenal 0-2 Aston Vila

Wolves (A): April 20

While it wasn't as convincing as last season, Arsenal got the job done in the Midlands as they bounced back from Champions League disappointment in the middle of the week. Trossard poked the Gunners ahead moments before half-time and Odegaard secured the three points in injury time with a tidy finish.

Result last season: Wolves 0-2 Arsenal
Prediction this season: Wolves 0-2 Arsenal
Final score: Wolves 0-2 Arsenal

Chelsea (H): April 23

Arsenal beat Chelsea comfortably at home last season, and things have not exactly gone great for Mauricio Pochettino's Blues in 2023/24. A traditionally high-scoring derby game like this had the potential to see the Gunners slip up. The game that unfolded was high-scoring but emphatically one-way as Arsenal romped to a 5-0 win.

Result last season: Arsenal 3-1 Chelsea
Prediction this season: Arsenal 2-2 Chelsea
Final score: Arsenal 5-0 Chelsea

Tottenham (A): April 28

This was a significant test of Arsenal's mettle and they came through in the end, although they did their best to throw away a big result. The Gunners led comfortably 3-0 thanks to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg's own goal and finishes from Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz, but David Raya's error gifted Cristian Romero an easy finish and Declan Rice conceded a penalty to allow Son Heung-min to score. It finished 3-2 to the away side.

Result last season: Tottenham 0-2 Arsenal
Prediction this season: Tottenham 2-1 Arsenal
Final score: Tottenham 2-3 Arsenal

Bournemouth (H): May 4

Bournemouth lost this game last season thanks to Reiss Nelson's 97th-minute winner. The Cherries are a more rounded side these days, but Arsenal ran out deserved 3-0 winners

Result last season: Arsenal 3-2 Bournemouth
Prediction this season: Arsenal 2-0 Bournemouth
Final score: Arsenal 3-0 Bournemouth

Man United (A): May 12

United proved a tough test for the Gunners but they showed their defensive strength to hold onto a first-half lead thanks to Leandro Trossard's tidy finish.

Result last season: Man United 3-1 Arsenal
Prediction this season: Man United 1-2 Arsenal
Final score: Man United 0-1 Arsenal

Everton (H): May 19

Everton took the lead and gave the Gunners a scare as they brilliantly held them to 1-1 for the majority of the game but Havertz's late goal ensured they finished the season with three points.

Result last season: Arsenal 4-0 Everton
Prediction this season: Arsenal 3-2 Everton
Final score: Arsenal 2-1 Everton
