Back in Australia for the first time in over two years, Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has promised the club's upcoming matches in his homeland won't be taken lightly.

Celtic will be competing in the inaugural Sydney Super Cup in mid-November alongside Everton, Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers.

The tournament will be played when most club football pauses due to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

With the Hoops aiming to defend their Scottish Premiership title in 2022/23, Postecoglou is grateful his side can remain competitive during the World Cup break and has guaranteed they'll be playing their best football at the tournament.

"It's an interesting one. Obviously for all managers around the world having a World Cup smack bang right in the middle of your competition is unusual," Postecoglou said at a media event for the Sydney Super Cup on Wednesday.

"I think all clubs are treating it different. We'll obviously have a few but most of our players will be with us so I think having this ability to come here and play a couple of meaningful games instead of having a total break during that time makes sense.

"We'll obviously get back into it fairly quickly and once we do, it'll be quite busy until the end of the year.

"I just think it (Sydney Super Cup) comes along at a really good time. It's always great to have a change of environment when you're in the midst of competition so being on this side of the world and playing against a couple of good sides...it will be great for our guys.

"I've obviously lived on this side of the world for a long time and I've seen a lot of clubs from overseas come here and sometimes have walked away feeling let down that maybe the level of performance isn't what it should be.

"Well, I'm determined that won't be the case with us. We'll come here and play at our best so people can see what we're all about."

After a whirlwind first year with Celtic, Postecoglou has managed in front of some epic crowds against the likes of Rangers and Real Madrid.

The Australian coach is expecting much the same for the Sydney Super Cup and knows football fans Down Under can bring the noise

"I've been selling it big time back in Scotland just how passionate our supporter base is and I'm sure the players at the football club will feel the love when they get here," Postecoglou said.

"Part of the uniqueness, specialness of the club is the atmosphere the supporters create and I know the games here will have a similar kind of atmosphere. You wouldn't want to miss out.

"For us, we're going to be coming here mid-season so we'll be fit and raring to go. We want to give a good account of ourselves so it'll be good football matches against good sides."
