India are taking on Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final, which is being played at The Oval in England, London from June 7 to June 11.

Heading into the final day, the match is very much in the balance, with India trying to chase down another 280 runs in 97 overs to win.

India will be hoping to make up for their previous WTC Final loss to New Zealand back in 2021 and winning it at their second go, while Australia will be hoping to add the trophy to their list of World Championships.

However, as is often the case in Test matches, the game could end in a draw or a tie. So what happens if the match ends in a stalemate?

What happens if the WTC Final is drawn or tied?

In case India and Australia's five-day Test ends in a draw or tie, there won't be another tie-breaker to decide the winner of the Championship.

A reserve day is only kept to extend the game in case it has been substantially affected by adverse weather conditions such as rain which has led to the loss of many overs across innings.

Who wins the WTC title in case of a draw or tie?

Should a draw or a tie take place after the entire Test match is played, then India and Australia will both share the trophy, and no single team will be crowned as the solitary champion.
