Australia has secured qualification for the World Cup semi-finals.

It's just a matter of what position in the top four they finish.

Win against Bangladesh

While Australia is guaranteed a third-place finish at the minimum, they can finish second if South Africa loses to Afghanistan.

The green and gold can also leapfrog into second if both team wins, providing they make up a hefty net-run rate deficit with South Africa.

Loss against Bangladesh

Australia cannot drop lower than their current third position in the World Cup standings if they lose to Bangladesh.

During the 2019 ICC ODI World Cup, which was the first with 10 teams in the group stage, New Zealand qualified for the semi-finals on 11 points, but Pakistan missed out on the same tally due to their net run rate.

In the same tournament, England secured their passage to the last four with 12 points.

Australia is currently on 12 points and can achieve a maximum of 14 points in the group stage with one match remaining.

This World Cup will likely see a team qualify with only 10 points.
