Attention has turned to the fifth Test of the Ashes series after the damp end to the fourth Test at Old Trafford.

It seemed England were destined to pull level with Australia and force an exciting series decider. But incessant rain on day 4 and day 5 meant Australia managed to pull off a great escape and draw the fourth Test.

A comprehensive batting and bowling performance by Ben Stokes' men had given them a 275 run-lead in the first innings and by the end of day 3, they had reduced Australia to 113/4.

However, rain struck on day 4 and only 30 overs of play was possible. The entirety of day 5 was washed out, helping Australia retain their 2-1 series lead and the Ashes by virtue of being the holders.

With the prospect of winning back the urn washed away by the rains, England will hope to at least ensure they don't lose the series in the fifth Test while Australia will want to win an away series outright.
