Rajasthan Royals get their 2023 Indian Premier League campaign underway with a trip to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The Royals, who have not won the tournament since its first season back in 2008, lost in the finals to the Lucknow Super Giants last year. Sunrisers won just six games last season on their way to finishing in eighth place, a disappointing campaign for the franchise.

Jos Buttler won the Orange Cap after scoring 863 runs last season, including a record-equaling four centuries, while Yuzvendra Chahal took 27 wickets to claim the Purple Cap. RR started the campaign strong but couldn't keep their momentum going in the playoffs.

SRH have had a big reshuffle after their poor season, buying 13 new players in the 2023 auction. England internationals Harry Brook and Adil Rashid join the squad while Aiden Markram is the new captain following the departure of Kane Williamson.

There was only one meeting between the two sides last season as Rajasthan Royals cruised to a 61-run victory. In total, each franchise has won eight times in their 16 matchups in the IPL.

The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad typically suits batters more than bowlers, especially in the first innings of a T20 match.
