The hosts won the toss, putting their opposition into bat. The visitors had a mediocre start to the game, scoring 165/5 in their 20 overs. Shivam Dube (45 off 24) salvaged what was a below-par batting performance from the CSK unit.
SRH won the game with ease, chasing the 166-run target in 18.1 overs. The hosts were all over the visitors, right from the get go. Abhishek Sharma's exploits (37 off 12) in the batting powerplay meant that CSK had too little to defend for the remainder of the game.
SRH vs CSK: Live Updates
10:51 PM: SRH beat CSK by 6 wickets. SRH 166/4 after 18.1 overs. SRH were all over CSK, right from ball one of the run chase. Courtesy of an initial havoc by Abhishek Sharma (37) and Travis Head (31), SRH beat CSK in front of their home fans in Hyderabad. CSK have now lost two on the trot, while SRH continue to find a balanced winning combination in IPL 2024.
10:36 PM: SRH 143-4 after 16 overs. CSK have pulled things back a bit, but it is still too easy for SRH from here on. CSK's end to their innings will come back to haunt them. SRH are still the favourites to win the encounter, with 23 runs required off the final four.
10:13 PM: SRH are cruising away here. The hosts are 107-2 at the half-way stage. CSK find themselves in a spot of bother, as the required run rate has come down to a run-a-ball. Travis Head was dismissed for 31, but Aiden Markram (36*) is well-settled on the pitch, having kept the scoreboard ticking. CSK bowlers need to pull off a miracle, and get a flurry of dismissals. SRH are 107-2 after 10 overs.
9:55 PM: END OF POWERPLAY, SRH 78-1 (6). SRH have started on top here, in the run chase. Abhishek Sharma's electric innings of 37 off 12 has laid the perfect foundation for the hosts to get over the finishing line. Both Travis Head (24*) and Aiden Markram (15*) continue the momentum, with their aggressive intent with the bat. CSK seem lost in the middle.
9:30 PM: Welcome back to the run chase. After a strong finish to their bowling quota, the Sunrisers are out for the run chase. Travis Head comes in as the impact player for Sunrisers Hyderabad, while Mukesh Chaudhary is brought on by Chennai Super Kings. SRH need to chase down a 166-run total, to get back to winning ways, as CSK look to defend their below-par score. Travis Head is put down at slip in the very first over of the game, how costly could this one be! SRH 8-0 after the first over.
9:09 PM: CSK 165-5 at the end of their 20 overs. This has been a brilliant bowling performance from the SRH bowlers, especially in the second half of the innings. In fact, they conceded lesser runs in the last 10 overs than they did in the first 10, which goes to show that the bowlers used the conditions to their advantage and didn't allow the CSK batsmen to get away. Bar Shivam Dube, who scored 45 off 24, every other batsman seemed to struggle somewhat. SRH need 166 to win. Will they win their second home game in a row this season? We shall find out on the other side of the innings break.
8:49 PM: CSK 132-4 after 16 overs. CSK have lost a bit of momentum after losing two set batters in Ajinkya Rahane (35 off 30) and Shivam Dube (45 off 24). This has been excellent captaincy from Pat Cummins, who has rotated his bowlers smartly. With Ravindra Jadeja and Daryl Mitchell on the crease, and Moeen Ali and MSD still to come, CSK can aim for at least 50 more runs in the final four overs. But anything less than 175 on this pitch might be a difficult total to defend.
8:18 PM: CSK 84-2 after 10 overs. CSK lost their captain Ruturaj Gaikwad immediately after the powerplay, but Shivam Dube has taken the spinners to the cleaners and looks in great form. However, SRH have manged to not give away too many runs. An important phase of play coming up.
7:56 PM: END OF POWERPLAY, CSK 48-1 (6). Bhuvneshwar Kumar bagged his first wicket of IPL 2024 by dismissing the dangerous Rachin Ravindra. But skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ajinkya Rahane ensured that the team suffered no more setback as they take CSK off to a steady start. SRH need wickets before the momentum shifts entirely in CSK's favour.
7:30 PM: Rachin Ravindra faces the first ball, and skipper Pat Cummins has gone with part-time left-arm spinner Abhishek Sharma for the first over. Here we go!
7:01 PM: Pat Cummins has won the toss, SRH will field first tonight!
