The IPL auction days are always sensational and thrilling! The 2024 IPL auction also did not disappoint.

The auction broke milestones, in more than one way. The IPL 2024 auction was the first to be hosted across the Indian border. The event was scheduled at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. It was also the first IPL auction to be conducted by a female auctioneer in Mallika Sagar.

This was before any hammer was even struck! It only had to get better once the hammer started making the noise, wasn't it?

Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc would've entered the day maybe as millionaires, and ended it being multi-millionaires. The duo bagged handsome deals at the IPL 2024 mini auction. Maybe even worth more than the IPL Prize money for the champion side.

Starc and Cummins' IPL salary, contract

The prize money to the IPL franchises at the end of the season would seem so much, right? They still are far lesser than the contracts given to the Aussie duo of Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc.

Cummins was acquired by the 2016 IPL Champions, Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Orange Army made a record-breaking bid of INR 20.50 Crores for the Aussie skipper which translates to about $2.46 million. Cummins record, however, wasn't meant to last.

In the span of 90 minutes, his compatriot Mitchell Starc earned a bigger deal. The two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders paid a whopping sum of INR 24.75 Crores (about $2.97 million) to snatch Mitchell Starc off of Gujarat Titans' plate.

How did Mitchell Starc react after moving to Kolkata Knight Riders for 24.75 Crores?

After becoming the most-expensive player in IPL history, the 33-year-old was ecstatic. Talking with the JioCinema over live stream, Starc was thrilled to join the KKR, in his own words.

It was a shock. My wife (Alyssa Healy) is in India with the Women's team. She was updating me from there, as my telecast was lagging behind. I am surprised, but thrilled to be back involved in the IPL, and excited to join KKR, Starc said in the mid-show conversation with JioCinema.

He said he was very excited to play with some of his teammates at the Knight Riders. Starc said that he hopes to add some value to the exciting bunch of cricketers in the KKR squad.

It will be exciting to see how skipper Shreyas goes on with his things, rather than just playing against him. Andre Russell and Jason (Roy) are an exciting bunch of players. I hope I can add some value to the team, expressed the Aussie pacer.
