KL Rahul and Lucknow Super Giants start their quest to win the 2023 Indian Premier League with a clash against Delhi Capitals.
The Super Giants finished third in their inaugural season before losing to Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first eliminator. DC on the other hand came fifth, missing out on the playoffs by two points.
Both fixtures between the two sides last season were won by LSG, first by six wickets and then by six runs. Delhi Capitals struggled to raise their standards in close games as their big name players failed to produce what was required.
DC arguably had the most success from the 2023 auction in terms of what their squad needed. They added big hitters Phil Salt and Rilee Rossouw as well as the experienced Ishant Sharma.
Rahul and Quinton de Kock were two of the most explosive batters in the competition last year, but LSG lacked a strong middle order. They will be hoping new signing Nicholas Pooran can help solve this problem.
The pitch in Lucknow has positives for both the batters and bowlers. If seamers can get into their rhythm early, they can be capable of making a big difference.

LSG will be without fast bowler Mohsin Khan for most of the tournament as he picked up a shoulder injury. Quinton de Kock is also out for this fixture as he is on international duty with South Africa.
The main absentee for the Delhi Capitals is captain Rishabh Pant. He will miss the entire competition and David Warner will lead the side.
