Have Australia ever won a cricket match in Nagpur? Bettings odds for Australia vs India's Test match image

Australia will kick off their massive series against India on February 9th, with the first Test set to be played at VCA Stadium in Nagpur.

The ground has only ever held sporadic Test matches in its history, with the last red-ball international fixture coming six years ago.

VCA Stadium can hold up to 45,000 spectators and it's expected there will be plenty of raucous fans turning out for the upcoming clash between the two cricket powerhouses.

Australia will come into the series with three major injury concerns, while the Indian side will be rather settled apart from the absence of big-hitting keeper Rishabh Pant.

Here's everything you need to know about the first Test in Nagpur.

Have Australia ever won a Test match in Nagpur?

Australia have played just two Test matches at Nagpur in their history, winning one of them back in their successful 2004 series.

Their first Test in Nagpur resulted in a 342-run victory for the visitors, before the Aussies suffered a 172-run loss to India back in 2008. The latter match was perhaps most famous for Jason Krejza taking 12 wickets for 358 runs over the course of the two innings.

South Africa, New Zealand and Australia are the only team to defeat India at Nagpur to date, with the hosts winning six matches and escaping with a further five draws over the years.

The last Test match to be played in Nagpur was in 2017 between India and Sri Lanka.
