Australia are marching on a four-match winning streak and their next game in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is scheduled against England on November 4 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

The Pat Cummins-led side faced the threat of an early exit from the tournament after losing their starting two fixtures versus India and South Africa respectively. However, they rebounded well and registered four victories on the trot.

The five-time champions have a great opportunity of confirming their semi-final berth and a win against England will almost clear their route for that.

Glenn Maxwell's freak injury forces him out of England clash

Meanwhile, a not so encouraging development is coming out of the Australian camp. Their star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been injured in a freak accident and will not be featuring in the ecounter against their Ashes rival England.

According to reports, Maxwell was injured in a freak accident on a golf course on Monday evening. He fell off the back of a golf cart, resulting in a concussion. Under the concussion protocol, he will be out for six to eight days.

"He's been honest with the information he's provided," head coach Andrew McDonald was quoted as saying by espncricinfo.com.

"He's doing fine. He'll start some light exercises today and we feel as though it will be a reasonably straightforward return-to-play protocol. I suppose the fortunate part was there was no other injury sustained which could have been a lot worse that it currently is."

Further details are awaited on his injury but he will miss the England clash.

How has Glenn Maxwell performed in World Cup 2023?

Maxwell did not start off well in the ongoing World Cup, however, as the tournament progressed he found his hitting form. In a recent match versus the Netherlands, he recorded a 40-ball hundred, which is the fastest century hit in an ODI World Cup.
