After emerging as the most successful batsman in Australia's sixth World Cup triumph in India, David Warner has hinted at continuing his one-day cricket career for Australia and possibly participating in the next World Cup in 2027.

However, despite posting 494 runs in the tournament, he has opted out of the upcoming T20 series against India. He is returning home to prepare for his final Test series against Pakistan, with his last match scheduled for the SCG in January.

In response to a tweet by ESPN Cricinfo that his World Cup career had concluded with a 'glorious record' of 1527 runs, the 37-year-old veteran sharply replied, "who said I'm finished??"

After the final on Sunday, Warner also expressed his intentions of extending his career by at least another four years by saying 'see you in 2027' in an Instagram post.

He wrote: "Firstly I want to say thank you to India for hosting an absolutely incredible World Cup. The effort put into these events are enormous. Thank you to all the people involved behind the scenes, ground staff, people in the dressing rooms, kitchen hands, chefs, hotel staff, security, police, event organisers, the list goes on but most importantly the fans,' he said.

"Road blocks airport chaos when we have to sneak through, your patience is much appreciated. Without you all we can not play the game we all love. I know the result didn't go way but what it was, was an amazing few weeks. Chuffed to walk away as winners and 6 times champions. Our whole team should be extremely proud.

"Thanks again everyone, see you in 2027."

Warner's social media post suggests that he may have plans to continue playing until the next ODI World Cup in 2027, to be hosted in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

Currently, 37, he will turn 41 in 2027, which might make it unlikely for Warner to be part of Australia's 50-over team during the next World Cup.
