In one of the most anticipated fights at featherweight, Leigh Wood and Josh Warrington will face off for Wood's WBA title on October 7.
Emanating from Utilita Arena in Sheffield, the fight airs on DAZN worldwide.
Turning pro in 2011, Wood is a former British super bantamweight, and Commonwealth and British featherweight champion. The Nottingham-born fighter beat Xu Can in 2021 to win the WBA title. He beat Michael Conlan in what was named The Sporting News' 2022 Knockout of the Year. Against Mauricio Lara, Wood got dropped in the seventh and lost the belt when trainer Ben Davison threw in the towel to save his man.

"Leigh-thal" won the belt back via unanimous decision. Now, he faces a game Warrington in a battle between Nottingham and Leeds.
"I'm extremely excited for October 7," said Wood. "In terms of the followings we've got, the football clubs and the cities, this is arguably the biggest British rivalry in the sport. For me, it doesn't really get any bigger. Our styles will gel, and that should make for a very exciting and entertaining fight. It should go down in British history."
Warrington turned pro in 2009. "The Leeds Warrior" is a former English featherweight champion, defending his title on home turf multiple times. He beat Lee Selby in 2018 for the IBF featherweight title, defending it against warriors like Carl Frampton and Kid Galahad. Against Mauricio Lara, the then-titleless Warrington suffered his first loss and fought Lara to a draw in the rematch.
After beating Kiko Martinez to regain the IBF title, Warrington lost the belt in his last bout against Luis Alberto Lopez. Warrington now looks to become a three-time champion at featherweight.
"This is a big fight," said Warrington. "It doesn't get much better than a domestic dust-up for a world title! I'm obsessed in becoming a three-weight world champion, to get back on top, and that is going to show on the night. I will bring an army of fans to Sheffield, and the atmosphere will be special. Leigh has had a good run and put some good wins together, but I just don't believe he can live with me. I hope he thinks my best days are behind me. On October 7, he'll find out. AND THE NEW!"
