Jaron Ennis has a new opponent in David Avanesyan after Cody Crowley backed out of their fight. The IBF welterweight champion hopes the outcome will be the same in front of family and friends in Philadelphia.

Ennis held the interim IBF title to start 2023. “Boots” was named full-time champion after Terence Crawford got stripped of the belt, just a few months after beating Errol Spence Jr. to become undisputed at welterweight. The two-time Golden Gloves medalist returns home for the first time since 2018, headlining a Philadelphia-held fight for the first time.

Avanesyan replaced Cody Crowley, who underwent eye surgery. He has held interim WBA, NABF, and European welterweight gold and has fallen short twice at holding world title gold. The Russian-born fighter rebounded in December following a loss against Crawford for the WBO welterweight title.

Also on the card will be Skye Nicolson vs. Dyana Vargas for the WBC featherweight title.

Nicolson won the interim WBC featherweight title in 2023 and gained full-time championship status by beating Sarah Mahfoud after Amanda Serrano relinquished the belt. The Aussie and 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medalist hopes to face “The Real Deal” to determine the next undisputed champion at 126.

Vargas is on a three-fight win streak and competes out of the Dominican Republic for the first time. "La Maquina" has 12 wins via knockout.
