Jack Catterall was almost on top of the world when he faced Josh Taylor for the undisputed super lightweight title in 2022. However, a controversial scoring decision denied him of holding gold. He continues his quest to achieve glory against former three-weight world champion Jorge Linares on October 21. The fight will take place at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool and airs on DAZN.
Catterall turned pro in 2012. "'El Gato'" and won the British super lightweight belt in 2017. The Lancashire-born fighter lost to Taylor despite the champion going down in the eighth and being deducted a point (Catterall also lost a point in the fight). A contentious result, the rematch failed to transpire and Catteral has moved on.
“It is an honor to share a ring with Jorge Linares," Catterall said via ESPN. "I've watched him come over to the U.K. on three occasions and win three times. He is a legend of the game, and this is a must-win fight for both of us for very different reasons. There is talk of a huge fight for me after this, but it'll count for nothing if I take my eye off the ball, which I can't afford to do at this stage of my career."

Linares also added the WBA and Ring lightweight belts to his collection by outpointing Anthony Crolla in 2016 and 2017.
In 2018, Vasiliy Lomachenko dethroned Linares. Since then, the skillful Venezuelan has gone 2-4 and he's currently on a three-fight losing streak. The 38-year-old last fought in December when he was outpointed by Zhora Hamazary.
