The 2023 U.S. Open is here, and the deep, 156-player field once again boasts some of the world's best, including the two at the very top.

Scottie Scheffler (world No. 1) and Jon Rahm (No. 2) have combined for 20 top-10 finishes, six tournament wins and a major victory during the 2022-23 PGA Tour season. Now, the two once again will square off for their next major victory under the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles.
Scheffler has experience playing the course, which was home to the Los Angeles Open many, many decades ago. As part of the Walker Cup squad in 2017, Scheffler competed as the low amateur, helping crush Great Britain and Ireland in the tournament.
Rahm may not have competed there in the past, but he's two years removed from a U.S. Open win of his own, his first major victory. Now, he looks for his third, and he'll have to work through plenty of tough competition to stand alone on Sunday.
Elsewhere, PGA Tour loyalist Rory McIlroy groups with LIV Golf's Brooks Koepka, truly proving that competition makes for strange bedfellows.
