What is Stephen Curry: 'Underrated' about?
Despite being the son of former NBA player Dell Curry, Steph's trajectory to follow in his father's footsteps wasn't exactly guaranteed
Curry, who was just 5-6 and around 130 pounds in his sophomore year of high school was not a highly-recruited prospect, receiving just one Division I scholarship offer from Davidson College.
"I was the undersized scrawny kid that was just trying to figure out how to make it," Curry says in the film's trailer. "I was overwhelmed by everything.”
Upon joining Davidson, Curry quickly took off, leading them in scoring in each of his three seasons at school and guiding them to an appearance in the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament in his sophomore season in 2008.
Thanks to a growth spurt and his development as an elite shooter, after leaving school, Curry would go on to be selected No. 7 overall by the Golden State Warriors in the 2009 NBA Draft, setting the foundation for his Hall of Fame career.
The official synopsis for the documentary reads as follows:
The remarkable coming-of-age story of one of the most influential, dynamic and unexpected players in the history of basketball: Stephen Curry. This feature documentary — blending intimate cinéma vérité, archival footage and on camera interviews — documents Curry’s rise from an undersized college player at a small town Division I college to a four-time NBA champion, building one of the most dominant sports dynasties in the world.
