Daniel Smiljkovic leads the 100,000 No Limit Hold'Em Main Event after Day 1 at the Triton Poker High Roller Series in Vietnam. Smiljkovic chipped up steadily — he was among the biggest stacks after picking off a three-barrel bluff from Aleksejs Ponakovs with pocket aces midway through the day and never looked back.
With 119 entrants ponying up the biggest entry fee of the series and more to come before registration closes early into Day Two, the prize pool is shaping up to be the biggest of the series thus far.
Phil Nagy was an early star of the feature table, using unconventional overbets with both strong and weak hands to steamroll his way to a big stack.
Brian Kim made one of the biggest laydowns of the day, flopping top set with his pocket aces and folding to a single river bet when a straight came in. Unfortunately for Kim, he folded the best hand. His opponent, Seth Gottlieb, was betting with two pair. That setback didn't stop Kim from ending the day third in chips.
Fan favorite Karl Chappe-Gatien had a rough day, buying in four times. Chappe-Gatien couldn't garner any momentum on his first buy-in. His second buy-in was almost immediately lost on the biggest cooler of the day, a flopped underset.
