It's down to the Elite Eight in the NCAA tournament and Alabama will take on the Clemson Saturday night for a spot in the Final Four.
The Crimson Tide overcame No. 1 North Carolina on Thursday. The Tar Heels were a big favorite to win the tournament, but Alabama pulled out an 89-87 upset victory.
Grant Nelson stepped up in a significant way in this game, sinking a crucial and-one and making back-to-back shots late in the game to put the Crimson Tide ahead. He finished with 24 points.
The Tar Heels were Alabama's first major test. Before them, the Tide defeated No. 13 Charleston and No. 12 Grand Canyon in the first two rounds. Now, they'll get a shot at No. 6 seed Clemson.
The Tigers just executed their second straight upset in the tournament on Thursday, defeating second-seeded Arizona 77-72. Chase Hunter led their offense, scoring 18 points on 8-of-15 shooting.
Before the Wildcats, the Tigers defeated No. 3 seed Baylor. In the first round, the Tigers defeated New Mexico.
This tournament run marks the furthest the Tigers have advanced in school history. The last and only time they made the Elite Eight was during the 1979-80 season, also as a No. 6 seed.
Can they make school history by reaching the Final Four? Or, will the Crimson Tide keep their tournament run going on Saturday?
