It may just be September, but College Football Playoff implications will already be on the line when No. 18 Michigan hosts No. 11 USC in the Big Ten opener for both teams.
The Wolverines (2-1) are still searching for an identity, following an offseason of turnover on the heels of a national championship. New head coach Sherrone Moore is now handing the keys to the offense to junior quarterback Alex Orji, who is primed for his first collegiate start on Saturday.
Orji, who has 15 passing yards and 58 rushing yards this season, replaces Davis Warren, who threw three interceptions in last week's win over Arkansas State.
Orji's first test comes against a revamped USC squad already touting a huge non-conference win over LSU. Lincoln Riley's Trojans (2-0) have yet to miss Caleb Williams, the No. 1 overall pick in April's NFL Draft, thanks in large part to Miller Moss, a junior quarterback who has 607 passing yards and two touchdowns this season.
