Beanie Bishop was one of those guys that somehow fell through the cracks during the NFL Draft.

The consensus All-American cornerback from West Virginia went undrafted back in April after having 17 passes broken up and four interceptions in 2023. He was quickly scooped up by the Pittsburgh Steelers, and may very well be in line to be the team’s Week 1 starter at nickel cornerback.

During practice on Wednesday at training camp, Bishop was paired up against George Pickens, forcing an incompletion after some hand fighting.

Mike Tomlin made the two run it back, where Bishop once again got the better of Pickens. Pickens went up for a fade, but Bishop forced him out of bounds for an incompletion.

This is just the latest example of Bishop looking terrific. He looked very good during the team’s offseason program, as well, and that has carried over into training camp. With Cam Sutton suspended for the first eight games of the season, Bishop has been getting reps with the first-team defense at nickel. These performances, along with the obvious trust he already has from Pittsburgh’s coaches, paint a picture of the undrafted rookie being a Week 1 starter.
