What NFL teams have the best chance of winning Super Bowl 59?

At +500 odds, the Chiefs have a 16.67% implied probability of winning Super Bowl 59, the highest of any NFL team. They are followed by the 49ers (+550) at 15.38%.

It's no surprise those two teams met in last year's Super Bowl, with Kansas City winning a 25-22 thriller in overtime.

Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City out-dueled Baltimore 27-20 in the season opener. It was a rematch of last year's AFC Championship game.

Rookie WR Xavier Worthy made a big impression in his NFL debut by scoring two TDS -- one on the ground and one through the air -- against a good Baltimore defense. The University of Texas product finished with 47 receiving yards in a game where fellow wideout Marquise Brown (shoulder) did not play.

Here's a look at Kansas City's upcoming schedule:

  • Bengals at Chiefs
  • Chiefs at Falcons
  • Chiefs at Chargers

We're only one week into the season, but Cincinnati looked awful in a 16-10 loss to New England. Kansas City has a good chance to start the season 2-0.

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers faced a lot of drama in the offseason. Both WR Brandon Aiyuk and star offensive tackle Trent Williams were looking for new deals that finally got done before the season opener.

Christian McCaffrey dealt with a calf and Achilles injury during camp, and did not play in Monday night's 32-19 win against the Jets.

Jordan Mason stepped up in CMC's absence and ran for 147 yards along with a TD. Brock Purdy failed to throw for a TD against the Jets. Kicker Jake Moody made 6-of-6 field goals and was the game's leading scorer with 20 points.

Here are San Francisco's upcoming games:

  • 49ers at Vikings
  • 49ers at Rams
  • Patriots at 49ers

In late October, the 49ers face the Chiefs and Cowboys in back-to-back weeks with both games at home.

Baltimore Ravens

After the opening-week loss to Kansas City, Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson is 12-2 ATS as an underdog. The Ravens were favored in last year's AFC Championship game and lost outright, 17-10.

Running back Derrick Henry, who came over from Tennessee, was expected to lessen Jackson's rushing workload. That didn't exactly play out in the opener, with Jackson rushing 16 times for a team-high 122 yards. Henry did have 13 carries for 46 yards and a TD, but wasn't nearly as explosive as Jackson on the ground.

Here is the upcoming schedule for Baltimore:

  • Raiders at Ravens
  • Ravens at Cowboys
  • Ravens at Bengals

The Ravens have the second-toughest schedule based on win percentages of NFL teams last year. That looming showdown with the Cowboys could be a Super Bowl 59 preview.

Detroit Lions

The Lions needed overtime to slip past the Rams in Week 1. Detroit still covered ATS when David Montgomery scored a TD in extra time to seal the 26-20 win.

Nobody has been better than Detroit when it comes to covering the spread in recent years. After going 14-6 ATS last year including playoff games, the Lions are 38-17-0 since Dan Campbell took over as coach for the 2021 season.

Here's what is coming up on Detroit's slate in the near future:

  • Bucs at Lions
  • Lions at Cardinals
  • Seahawks at Lions

This week, Tampa Bay will look to exact some revenge after its 31-23 loss to Detroit in the divisional round of last season's playoffs.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles -- and particularly new RB Saquon Barkley -- looked impressive in Philadelphia's 34-29 win over Green Bay. Barkley went off for 109 rushing yards and two TDs. He also added a receiving TD.

Philadelphia sputtered at the end of last season, but the addition of Barkley was a huge get during the offseason. QB Jalen Hurts and WR AJ Brown are also elite players at their respective positions, with WR Devonta Smith and TE Dallas Goedert also capable of doing damage offensively.

There are questions about Philadelphia's defense, and the biggest question mark comes in the secondary. The Eagles gave up 260 passing yards and two TDs to Jordan Love before he left the game with a knee injury. Safety Reed Blankenship did have an interception for the much-maligned secondary, though.

Here's a glance at Philly's upcoming schedule:

  • Falcons at Eagles
  • Eagles at Saints
  • Eagles at Buccaneers

The Eagles play three NFC South opponents over the next three weeks before their early bye. Unfortunately, division bottom feeder Carolina isn't one of them. That game will take place in Week 14.

Is there a longshot team that could come out of nowhere to win Super Bowl 59?

We've only just concluded Week 1 of the new NFL season, so it's difficult to pinpoint a Super Bowl longshot winner with much in the way of accuracy. That said, keep an eye on the Minnesota Vikings, who are a true longshot at +7000 (DraftKings).

Again, be sure to line shop for the best futures odds. Minnesota was being offered as low as +5000 (FanDuel) and everywhere in between. The Vikings are coming off a dominant offensive and defensive performance in a 28-6 win over the Giants.

If you buy into the narrative that quarterback Sam Darnold is finally playing for a good team and coach in Kevin O'Connell, Minnesota might be worth a speculative play.

The NFC North is arguably the best division in the league this year. But with Jordan Love (knee) reportedly set to miss three to six weeks, that could set Green Bay back entering the midway point of the season.

Detroit remains the -145 favorite to win the NFC North at FanDuel. Time will tell if Minnesota (+550 to win the division) can dethrone Detroit, but we wouldn't argue with sprinkling some money on the Vikings to win the Super Bowl at 70-1.
