Top-seeded Stanford already survived on scare in this year's NCAA Tournament and the Cardinal can't afford many mistakes against third-seeded NC State in the Sweet 16 on Friday in Portland, Oregon.

The winner will move onto the Elite Eight against Texas or Gonzaga from the other side of the bracket.

Stanford advanced with a 79-50 victory over Norfolk State in the first round of the tournament and then outlasted seventh-seeded Iowa State 87-81 in overtime on Sunday.

Brooke Demetre hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 18 seconds left in the extra period to spark Stanford's win over the Cyclones.

The Cardinal are led by senior Cameron Brink, who is one of four players named a Naismith Trophy finalist along with Paige Bueckers (UConn), Caitlin Clark (Iowa) and JuJu Watkins (USC).

Brink is third nationally in rebounds per game (11.9) and using College Basketball Reference advanced metrics. She is the only player in the country averaging 17.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game this season,

Brink announced that she would declare for the WNBA Draft and skip her fifth year of eligibility granted by the NCAA because of COVID-19
