New Buffalo Bills wide receiver Marques Valdes-Scantling told the Go Long that he deserves props for helping Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes win their NFL MVP Awards.

He said: “I’ve helped them elevate their games in different facets. I helped Aaron win a couple MVPs. I helped Pat win MVP, a couple Super Bowls. My resume speaks for itself, too. Ain’t a one-way thing, man. I put up some big numbers with these guys. Made some big plays for these guys. It all works out on both ends. And it’s not a fluke. It’s happened everywhere.”

Valdes-Scantling spent 2018-2021 in Green Bay and 2022-2023 in Kansas City.  He averaged 31 catches per season over those six years (186 total), scoring 16 total touchdowns with 3,155 yards.  His best season was in 2020 when he averaged a career-high 20.9 yards per reception.

He is not wrong that it takes more than just a quarterback to win the MVP award, but it is worth noting that he was not the WR1 on any of these teams so if there is credit to be distributed, it should extend to all of the wide receivers, especially the WR1s on those teams.
