No. 2 Notre Dame is looking to punch its ticket to the Sweet 16 but the Fighting Irish will have to get past a tough Ole Miss team in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Monday.

This will be the first meeting between the schools.

Notre Dame is led by guard Hannah Hidalgo, who is the first Irish player to earn first-team All-America honors since Jewell Loyd did so in 2015. Hidalgo is No. 3 in the nation in scoring with an average of 23.3 points a game.

The Fighting Irish advanced with a 81-67 victory over No. 15 Kent State in the opening round.

Sonia Citron led all players with 29 points, and Hidalgo posted her eighth double-double with 14 points, 11 assists and 6 steals. She is the fifth player in Notre Dame women’s basketball history to post 11 or more assists in an NCAA Tournament game.

The Fighting Irish don't have a deep bench and they could find themselves challenged by the Rebels if the starters get into foul trouble.

Seventh-seeded Ole Miss pulled away from No. 10 Marquette 67-55 in the opening round.

Madison Scott led the Rebels with 20 points, while Kennedy Todd-Williams added 15 points and seven rebounds. Tyia Singleton had 12 points and Kharyssa Richardson scored 10.

The Rebels are seeking their second straight trip to the Sweet 16 after upsetting top-seeded Stanford 54-49 as a No. 8 seed last year
