Caleb Williams will make his NFL debut Sunday, September 8, against the Tennessee Titans. The Chicago Bears selected him first overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. He brings new hope to the historic franchise, but that doesn't mean he is changing his style.
Williams played for the University of Oklahoma and the University of Southern California during college. When he was at USC, people noticed that the quarterback would paint motivational messages on his fingers. The messages varied and could take an NSFW turn, but they served as a personal reminder for the quarterback when he was in the heat of the game.
Williams is healthy for the Bears and is ready to make an impact in his first career game. During warmups, it was noticed that he had once again painted his nails.

Caleb Williams fingernails, explained
While the messages have taken different forms over the years, Williams' nails couldn't paint a clearer picture for his first career games. "#18" and "Da Bears" were seen on his nails while he was warming up. The Bears haven't won a playoff game since 2010, and while there was hype when the team drafted Justin Fields in 2021, Williams' support has been unmatched.

Why does Caleb Williams paint his nails
Williams did an interview with "Good Morning America" where he stated that his mother is the inspiration behind his painting his nails. He said she has been doing nails since before he was born and used to paint his growing up.
Williams said that he always liked it when she did it, and now he continues doing it to pay tribute to her and motivate himself. His nails have shown his school logos or designs but have also been used more aggressively, and he has sported an opponent on his middle finger several times.
