Report: Dolphins release QB Mike White image

The Miami Dolphins have made their backup quarterback decision.  The team released Mike White on Sunday opening the door for Skylar Thompson to be Tua Tagaovailoa's backup.

The battle for QB2 has been ongoing this summer, and some fans did not know if either player was the right choice.  They called for a reunion with former quarterback and current free agent Ryan Tannehill.

Thompson, 27, presumably edged out White in the third preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Thompson completed 19 out of 27 passes for 190 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.  He also had one running play for 10 yards. White was 5 for 9 for 37 yards.

This is Tua Tagovailoa's team so fans hope that Thompson's role is to help him be game-ready because the Dolphins are a dynamic team with playoff hopes with Tua under center.

The Dolphins open the 2024 season at 1 PM ET on Sunday, September 8 at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
