Sam Houston is the top seed in the 2024 Conference USA Basketball Championships after finishing the regular season at 20-11 overall record and a 13-3 in the league.

The Bearkats are the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament in consecutive seasons for the first time since moving up to the Division I level. Sam Houston will face the winner between the Gamecocks and Panthers to open Wednesday’s quarterfinal action at 5:30 p.m. The second game Wednesday will feature No. 2 LA Tech taking on No. 7 Middle Tennessee State at 8 p.m.
 
The quarterfinals continue Thursday with No. 4 Liberty challenging No. 5 seed UTEP at 5:30 p.m., followed by No. 3 Western Kentucky vs. No. 6 New Mexico State (13-18, 7-9 CUSA) at 8 p.m.
 
The semifinals will take place at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Friday, and the championship final will tip off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The tournament is in the first of a multi-year agreement at VBC Propst Arena in Huntsville, Ala., and features all nine teams.
