The fourth-ranked Purdue men's basketball team will face a tough challenge against Alabama as part of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame doubleheader in Toronto, on Dec. 9 at the Coca-Cola Coliseum.

The highly anticipated event marks the first Hall of Fame games in Toronto since 2019. The Boilermakers and Crimson Tide will be joined by TCU and Clemson in the doubleheader.

Purdue (8-1) bounced back from a loss to Big Ten rival Northwestern with an 87-68 win over Iowa on Dec. 4. The Boilermakers have now won eight of their last 10 games against Iowa.

Purdue is led by by 7-4 center Zach Edey, who last season swept all six major National Player of the Year Awards: The Wooden Award, The Naismith Award, The Big O Trophy (USBWA), NABC National Player of the Year, the AP National Player of the Year and The Sporting News National Player of the Year. Edey is averaging 28.2 points per game this season.

Alabama (6-2) beat Arkansas State Red Wolves, 89-65, on Dec. 4. Mohamed Wague had a season-high 12 points and seven rebounds, while Davin Cosby Jr. also recorded season highs with nine points and five rebounds. Mark Sears leads Alabama with 28.6 points per game, while Aaron Estrada is scoring 27.1 points per game.

Last year, Alabama and Purdue earned two of the four No. 1 seeds and combined to spend 28 weeks in the AP Top 5 and nine of the 19 weeks in the top spot. Purdue, Alabama and Marquette are the only power-conference teams to win both the regular-season and tournament titles a year ago.
