It is no secret that the Washington Commanders are looking to rewrite recent history with the 2024 NFL season.  With new owners, coaches, and a mix of young and veteran players, the team is attracting attention at training camp.

Rapper Wale and Washington National third baseman Trey Lipscomb visited training camp recently.  Wale, 39, was born and raised in Northwest Washington, DC, and is a lifelong fan.

Wale said: "You can't help but to be excited, you can feel the excitement of the fans. Even talking to a lot of my friends on the team, you can feel it. It's a new day."

Wale's other takeaways are that the team looks fast, excited, and inspired.  He is a big fan of Jayden Daniels.  Wale credited Josh Harris and the team's new ownership for creating buzz for this team that has not been seen or felt in years.

Lipscomb, 24, from nearby Frederick, Maryland also visited training camp.

Though he is busy competing in the semifinals at the nearby Mubadala Citi DC Open tennis tournament, Hyattsville, Maryland native Frances Tiafoe, 26, once again supports his local team by wearing Commanders gear to a recent practice session.

The Commanders are turning heads locally and could surprise NFL fans overlooking them this season. The team opens the season on August 10 with a preseason game at MetLife Stadium against the New York Jets. Will that be rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels's first NFL appearance?  Fans are anxiously awaiting word from Coach Dan Quinn.
