Louisville is the No. 6 seed in the 2024 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament and will play No. 11 seed Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders in the first round on Friday.

The Cardinals and Blue Raiders will square off at 1:30 p.m ET, and the game will be aired nationally on ESPN2.

It's the 26th all-time appearance for Louisville in the NCAA Tournament and the 15th appearance in the 16 tournaments under head coach Jeff Walz. Since Walz arrived in 2007, the Cardinals are 40-14 in the tournament and have advanced to 12 Sweet 16's, eight Elite Eights, four Final Fours and have been in the championship game twice.

Louisville is led by graduate guard Kiki Jefferson and senior forward Olivia Cochran, who were both named to the All-ACC Second Team.

Jefferson has played all 31 games this season and made 29 starts in her lone season at Louisville. She leads the team with 13.0 points per game this season, tied for the team lead with 2.5 assists per game and is third in rebounding with 4.6 per game.

Cochran has played and started all 31 games this season for the Cardinals. She leads the team with 6.5 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 0.5 blocks per game this season while she is one of four players to average 10 or more points per game (10.7).

Middle Tennessee State won the Conference USA regular season and league tournament championships. It's Raiders' 21st NCAA Tournament appearance and the 12th under coach Rick Insell. 

Middle Tennessee State guard Savannah Wheeler was named the 2023-24 CUSA Player of the Year. She was just the ninth Lady Raider overall to be named conference player of the year and the third to be named CUSA Player of the Year.

Wheeler led the league in scoring (17.5 ppg), assists (150), assist/turnover ratio (2.1), and minutes (37.8). She is also CUSA all-time free throw record holder.
