A Sweet 16 matchup between the Marquette Golden Eagles and the NC State Wolfpack will take place this Friday on CBS at 7:09 p.m. ET from the American Airlines Arena in Dallas.
The Golden Eagles are a No. 2 seed in this tournament. They've trumped both Colorado and Western Kentucky to get to the Sweet 16 in the South region of the bracket.
Against the Buffaloes in the Round of 32, they had five players score in double figures to push them to the next round. Tyler Kolek posted a team-leading 21 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field. Kam Jones also posted 18 points.
This NCAA tournament trip marks the third straight for the Golden Eagles and head coach Shaka Smart. They haven't been this far since the 2011-12 tournament. Last season, they lost in the second round as a No. 2 seed.
The Wolfpack are steamrolling a Cinderella story in the tournament. They brought the momentum from their shocking ACC tournament win, earning an automatic bid to the dance.
As a No. 11 seed, they've gone through both Texas Tech and Oakland, the latter of which was a Cinderella threat, too.
Against Oakland, they tried to maintain Jack Gohlke, a tournament hero who posted 22 points on six 3-point makes. DJ Burns Jr. led the team with 24 points and 11 rebounds on 9-of-12 shooting, helping the team to an overtime win.
This is the Wolfpack's second NCAA tournament under Kevin Keatts. Before last season, they hadn't made the tournament since the 2017-18 season.
