This Thursday, the Lakers will host the Nuggets for a Western Conference bout at Crypto.com Arena on TNT.

The Lakers hold the ninth spot in the Western Conference with a 27-25 record. They've struggled through various parts of the regular season despite being more healthy than they've usually been in the LeBron James/Anthony Davis era.

Scoring 116.4 points per game, the Lakers are in the middle of the pack on offense, ranking 15th. Their defense isn't much better, as they're allowing 117 points per game, making their unit the 18th best defense in the NBA.

James and Davis are leading the Lakers in scoring, 24.9 and 24.7 points per game, respectively. Davis leads the Lakers on the boards, posting 12.2 rebounds per game. James leads the team in assists, dishing out 7.6 per game.

The Nuggets are fourth in the Western Conference with a 35-16 record. They are a blistering 21-4 at home this season but 14-12 on the road, giving the Lakers a clear advantage.

Surprisingly, the Nuggets, like the Lakers, have a middle-of-the-pack offense this season, posting 114.8 points per game (16th in the NBA). Unlike the Lakers, their defense is elite. Holding opponents to an average 110.6 points per game this season, the Nuggets' defense ranks fourth in the NBA.

Jokic is executing another MVP-caliber season. And now, with Joel Embiid out with a meniscus injury, Jokic has a shot at grabbing another MVP award. This season, he's posting 26.3 points, 12.2 rebounds and 9.0 assists per game, leading in the Nuggets in all categories.
