Caitlin Clark continues her historical season when No. 4 Iowa travels to Minnesota for a Big Ten matchup on Wednesday.
Clark finished with 24 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists for her 16th career triple-double in a 101-85 victory over Illinois on Sunday. The nation's leading scorer with 32.1 points per game, Clark also leads Division I with five triple doubles this season.
Clark is already the all-time leading scorer in NCAA women's basketball history. She is now within 51 points shy of breaking the all-time scoring record among men and women held by LSU's "Pistol" Pete Maravich. Before the Illinois game, Iowa unveiled a new court logo marking the spot where Clark made a 3-pointer on Feb. 15 against Michigan to break Kelsey Plum's previous scoring record.
Iowa with the Illinois win bounced back from an 86-69 loss to No. 14 Indiana on Feb. 22. The Hawkeyes have averaged 103 points in the four games after losses this season.
Iowa is tied with Indiana in second place, one game behind Ohio State, in the Big Ten standings. Iowa hosts the Buckeyes in the regular-season finale on Sunday, March 3.
Minnesota has lost eight of nine games, which dropped the Golden Gophers to 5-11 in the conference.
Sophomore Mallory Heyer collected her fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds in a 70-51 loss to Nebraska in Lincoln on Saturday. Heyer has now made a three in 25 consecutive games this season.
Minnesota played without Mara Braun (foot) and Sophie Hart (hip) because of injuries. There state against the Hawkeyes is uncertain.
The Golden Gophers can reach several milestones against Iowa. Amaya Battle is 28 assists away from breaking into the program's all-time top 10 for assists in a career.
