The World Archery Championships are one of the three major events in the World Archery Federation Calendar. They have been running yearly since 1931, and biennially since 1950.

The 52nd edition of the Championships started in Berlin on 31 July 2023, and is set to end today, on 6 August. Here is the list of all the Indian medal-winners from the tournament.
How have Indians performed previously at the World Archery Championships?
The first medal won by an Indian at the World Archery Championships came in Madrid in 2005, when Tarundeep Rai, Gautam Singh and Jayanta Talukdar won silver in the recurve bow men's team event.
India had to wait six more years for another medallist, which came in the form of Deepika Kumari, Laishram Bombayla Devi and Chekrovolu Swuro winning silver in the recurve women's team event in Turin.

India's first individual medal came in 2015, with Rajat Chauhan's silver medal in the compound bow men's category.
Prior to the 2023 Championships, India's total medal tally stood at 11 (nine silver and two bronze).
How did Indians perform at the 2023 World Archery Championships?
This year was a stellar one at the Championships for India.
With the country never having never won a gold medal before, the compound bow women's team consisting of Parneet Kaur, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Aditi Gopichand Swami broke that duck when they beat Mexico in the final on Friday, 4 August.

Swami then went on to win gold in the compound bow women's individual category, before Ojas Pravin Deotale went on to make it three golds for India, with a win in the compound bow men's individual category.

Vennam also won an individual medal with bronze in the compound bow women's category, making it four in all for Indians.
