India's Dhanyadha JP finished second in the women’s Junior individual pursuit (2000mtr) with a timing of 2:28.871 to create a new national record at N. Sembilan in Malaysia on Saturday.
Chinese Taipei's Chai Roug Lee claimed gold as she completed the race in 2:28.239, whereas China's Chunrui Zhan stood third.
The 17-year-old Dhanyadha hails from Coimbatore and won two gold medals at the National Track Cycling Championship in 2021. Her first medal came in the individual pursuit event and the second in the team sprint.
How did Dhanyadha pick cycling as her sport?
Dhanyadha started cycling to keep herself fit.
"I started cycling as a fitness exercise. It eventually became my sports, as I started liking it," she had revealed earlier.

In March 2023, she bagged three gold medals at the Khelo India women’s track cycling league at the LNCPE Velodrome by finishing first in 2000m individual pursuit, 4km scratch race and keirin race in the under-16 category.

Ronaldo Singh sets new national record
Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam locked 9.877s to finish 10th in the men's sprint qualifying round to better his national record by 0.33 seconds at the Asian Track Cycling Championship 2023.
However, in the finals, the 21-year-old stood 11th to collect 246 Olympic qualification points.

Singh won a silver medal in the men's sprint event at the Asian Track Cycling Championships held in New Delhi last year, marking India's first-ever individual silver medal at the continental meet. He also secured an individual bronze medal in the 1km time trial category and was a part of the men's sprint team that earned a bronze medal.
