The ISSF Junior World Cup 2023 saw 39 Indian shooters, including world championship medalists Simranpreet Kaur Brar and Dhanush Srikanth, participate in Suhl, Germany.
This year, the Suhl meet served as the sole ISSF World Cup dedicated to junior shooters, offering a platform for them to showcase their abilities before the upcoming Junior World Championships in Changwon, Republic of Korea, scheduled from July 14 to 25.
India's junior shooting team is no stranger to success in Suhl, having dominated the medals tally at the Junior Shooting World Cup held last year. With an impressive haul of 33 medals - 13 golds, 15 silvers, and five bronzes - they emerged as the top-performing nation in this edition as well.
India made a promising start to this year's competition when Sainyam clinched the gold medal in the women's 10m air pistol event on June 3. Dhanush Srikanth (Men’s 10m air rifle), Amanpreet Singh (Men's 25m pistol) are the two other gold medallists in individual events.
In the Women's 10m air rifle team, Gautami Bhanot, Swati Chowdhury, and Sonam Uttam Maskar topped the podium. Whereas, in the Women's 25m pistol team category, Megana Sadula, Payal Khatri, and Simranpreet emerged victorious.
They once again topped the medals tally at the event, with a total of 15 medals, including six gold.
