Which ICC trophies have India won?
1) 1983 World Cup
In 1983, the cricket world witnessed one of the greatest upsets in the history of the sport when the Indian cricket team, led by Kapil Dev, triumphed in the World Cup final. The final was held at Lord's, the prestigious cricket ground in London, and the opposition was the formidable West Indies team, who were the reigning champions and had won the tournament twice before.
Batting first, India were bowled out for 183 in 54.4 overs in the 60-over game. It looked like a cakewalk for the West Indies, who had the swaggering Viv Richards in their batting line-up.
But some incredible medium-pace bowling by Mohinder Amarnath and Madal Lal, who claimed three wickets each, saw the might West Indians collapse in a heap. India bowled their opponents out for 140 in 52 overs to claim their first-ever World Cup victory.
2) 2002 Champions Trophy
19 years later, India would win their second-ever ICC trophy, however, they would have to share the Champions Trophy with Sri Lanka due to unusual circumstances. Rain halted play during the Final and on the following reserve day as well. No concrete result could be surmised, with India having barely batted on both days, therefore both teams shared the trophy.
3) 2007 T20I World Cup
It was the first-ever tournament captained by MS Dhoni, one of the greatest skippers India has seen, and showed a hint of the nation's future under the calm veteran's leadership.
In the final, India met fierce rivals Pakistan to decide the first T20 world champion. The game went right down the wire, and just when it looked like Pakistan would clinch victory from India's hands on the last ball, Sreesanth caught Misbah-ul-Haq off Joginder Sharma's delivery to get the Indians across the finishing line.
4) 2011 World Cup
28 years after they first won the tournament, India under the dynamic leadership of Dhoni were world champions once again, this time winning the trophy against Sri Lanka in front of their home fans.
Much like the final in 1983, India's starting order was quickly sent back to the pavilion by Sri Lanka's bowlers, led by Lasith Malinga. However, Gautam Gambhir and Dhoni's impressive knocks of 97 and 91* helped India chase down a total of 274 runs with 11 balls to spare. It was a fitting farewell for India's greatest-ever batsman Sachin Tendulkar in his last World Cup outing.

Ravindra Jadeja's exceptional bowling proved pivotal and dismantled the English batting order. The jubilant scenes erupted as India secured a resounding victory, lifting the prestigious Champions Trophy for the first time since its inception in 1998, etching their names in cricketing history.
6) 2024 T20 World Cup
India managed to win their second T20 World Cup, with an undefeated campaign in West Indies. Led by Rohit Sharma, the team managed to reach the final after defeating Australia and England in the semifinals.
In the final, South Africa were beaten by 7 runs despite at one point, SA looking set for a win. But India pulled it back to win their sixth ICC trophy.
