The returning edition of the ICC Champions Trophy is set to kick off in February with Pakistan appointed as hosts of the tournament. The tournament marks a return after a gap of eight years. The last edition was played in 2017 wherein Pakistan defeated India in the final in London to lift the cup.

However, recent images of one of the stadiums chosen to host the tournament seem to be well below par with the level expected to host such a prestigious ICC competition. The Rawalpindi Stadium in Pakistan is currently hosting the first test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh with concerning sightings of the condition of the venue.

What is the condition of the stadium in Rawalpindi?
An X user recently shared a few images of the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium with no proper seating arrangements for fans to enjoy the game along with a stadium looking to be incomplete in some areas.
The pitch images are even more concerning. The outfield looks very dry in the image along with a few uneven spots. The fan has even prompted Jay Shah to change the hosts for the Champions Trophy once he becomes the new ICC Chairman.

Current ICC chairman George Barclay has stated that he would be opting out from continuing for a third term once his tenure ends on November 30 making BCCI secretary Jay Shah the leading candidate to take over the role.

When is the ICC Champions Trophy 2025?
The 2025 edition of the ICC Champions Trophy is set to kick off on February 18, 2025. The tournament will last for 21 days with the final scheduled for March 9, 2025.
It has to be noted that PCB are working on improving the standard of stadiums and all major venues are undergoing renovation as the Pakistan board expects all of them to be prepared before the tournament begins.
