Pakistan, who were a newly formed country after partition from India in the year 1947, made their debut appearance in the following year at the Olympics during the 1948 London Summer games.
Like their neighbors India, Pakistan have had their most success at the Olympic games in the Men's Hockey team events, which gave them their first medal at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, where they won silver, followed by a gold medal at the 1960 Rome Olympics.
However, it took the country 76 years to register their first gold medal in an individual event in the Olympic games. Javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem produced a record throw of 92.97m at the Paris 2024 games, to win the gold medal for Pakistan.
