After over two weeks of groundbreaking sporting moments and world records falling in droves for several of the competing countries, the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris are coming to an end this weekend.

This year's Olympics kicked off with an opening ceremony held on the River Seine through the centre of the host city, Paris, whereas the closing ceremony will be held at the Stade de France, the country's national arena, which will be transformed from a football and athletics stadium into a concert hall for the celebration.

Canada aiming to finish in the top 10 of the medal table, with swimmer Summer McIntosh playing the biggest role of all in their success so far in Paris. Of the six gold and five silver medals Canada have won (at the time of writing), McIntosh has claimed three golds and a silver on her own, with the women's Rugby Sevens side also collecting silver in a brilliant run to the Sevens final.

Although the Olympics draw to a close this Sunday, there's only a short break before the Paralympic Games begin on August 28, and after that the athletes from every competing country will be looking ahead to the Los Angeles Games in 2028.
