Luke Thompson will return to the Super League next season, ending a tumultuous tenure with the Bulldogs and signing a long-term contract with Wigan.
The 28-year-old enforcer managed just 42 games across four seasons at Belmore, with a litany of suspension and injury issues hampering his impact on the field.
Thompson was off-contract with Canterbury at the conclusion of 2023 and had been linked with a potential move to the Dragons or Roosters, but has opted to return home to England next season.
The front-rower has inked a four-year agreement with the Warriors, which will see him remain at the club until at least the end of the 2027 season.

Bulldogs prop Luke Thompson confirms Super League return
In a statement released by the club on Thursday, the seven-time English international and former St Helens standout confirmed his excitement at joining the powerhouse franchise.
“I can’t wait to be back playing in the Super League with crowds up and the squad strong," he said.
“It’s a really exciting time to be joining Wigan. They’re playing great rugby and I’m looking forward to being a part of it.”
Thompson will join fellow ex-NRL stars Bevan French, Mike Cooper and Jai Field at Wigan next year and will become an instant marquee player for the side.
Warriors head coach Matt Peet praised the addition of Thompson to their roster for 2024 and beyond.
“Luke is an outstanding acquisition for the club," he said.
"He is a quality front-rower and brings a wealth of experience. We look forward to welcoming him and his family to the club.”
