Atletico Madrid was just minutes away from hoisting the Champions League trophy for the first time in franchise history.
An Iker Casillas error allowed Diego Godin's header to cross the goal line, giving Atletico an early 1-0 lead. They held strong for the entire second half, and with fjust a minute of stoppage time remaining in front of them, the top club trophy in Europe looked to be theirs.
