Who is Garbine Muguruza? Meet the woman who stunned Serena Williams image

Garbine Muguruza, the woman who just shocked Serena Williams at the French Open, is a relative unknown to casual tennis fans, but they will know her soon enough.

Muguruza, a 20-year-old who hails from Spain, defeated Williams 6-2, 6-2 on Wednesday in the second round at Roland Garos.

Her career-high WTA singles ranking is 32, achieved in early March of 2014. Her current ranking by the WTA is No. 35.

Muguruza entered the French Open with a career record of 175-86 in singles and 27-21 in doubles. She has one career WTA singles title and two career WTA doubles titles.

When Muguruza met Williams at the Australian Open in 2013, Serena won 6-2, 6-0, but also accidentally smacked herself in the face with her racquet.

Prior to Wednesday's second round win, Muguruza had not advanced beyond the second round at Wimbledon.

According to ESPN's Darren Rovell, Muguruza's career earnings after Wednesday's victory stand at $917K

She's also active on Twitter — and we're guessing her following of 13.9K, which include Marc and Pau Gasol, will jump a bit after beating Serena. You can follow her here.

Also, she likes puppies.
