Mexico's Alejandro Hernandez seeks the WBO bantamweight title Saturday. It's quite a bout for a journeyman fighter with a 25-10-2 record.
His opponent: Tomoki Kameda, the undefeated champion from Japan. With 19 of his 30 victories by knockout, Kameda is the favorite in the SHO card being staged in Chicago.
Later this month: Manny Pacquiao vs. Chris Algieri and Wladimir Klitschko vs. Kubrat Pulev.
Saturday's bout pits El Mexicanito against the man known as Payasito. Kameda is the little Mexican; Hernandez is the little clown in a battle of nicknames.
Little Mexican? Kameda was born in Osaka and has a Mexican parent. He is the youngest of three boxers, all world champions. Koki was the WBA Bantamweight champ. Daiki was the IBF Junior Bantamweight titlist.
It's the third title defense for Kameda. Hernandez is a mandatory challenger. Watch for him to display typical Mexican macho style, attacking with combinations to the head and body.
Also on the card at UIC Pavilion at University of Illinois-Chicago: Chicago's Polish Prince. Andrzej Fonfara meets Doudou Ngumbu in a light heavyweight bout.
