The Buffalo Bills fan who was injured when another fan fell onto him from an upper-deck railing during a game last season, is about to get his day in court.
Jury selection began on Wednesday in Orchard Park (N.Y.) Town Court, for the trial of Robert Hopkins, the fan who was caught on camera sliding down the rail in Ralph Wilson Stadium in a November 17 game against the Jets. Hopkins, 29, is charged with third-degree assault and second-degree reckless endangerment, according to the Buffalo News.
The injured fan, who has not been publicly identified, hurt his head and neck when Hopkins landed on him from some 25 to 30 feet above. The video of the slide and fall went viral almost immediately — even while it had been magnified from the original CBS feed, where cameras on the field picked it up.
Hopkins faces a year in jail if convicted. He already has been banned for life from the stadium and was fired from his job at an advertising firm. Worst of all, he became the subject of ... Taiwanese animation.
