Manziel will 'never come off field' if given chance, Mike Evans claims image

Tired of hearing about Johnny Manziel? Well you'll hear a lot more when and if the Browns decide to play the rookie quarterback, according to his former Texas A&M teammate.

Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans told reporters on a Wednesday conference call ahead of Sunday's Cleveland-Tampa Bay game that Manziel would be a permanent fix at quarterback for the Browns.

"When he gets his shot, I think he's never going to come off the field," Evans said, according to Ohio.com. "The game hasn't really seen a quarterback like him, I don't think. They say Doug Flutie and guys like that. But he can throw just as good as the 6-5 prototypical quarterbacks, and he can run like Michael Vick."

The Browns are 4-3 with Brian Hoyer as the starter, and Manziel has seen just five offensive snaps and has thrown one pass this season. Hoyer has played OK, but not good enough to completely fight off the cries for Johnny Football.

SN's Vinnie Iyer doesn't necessarily agree that Manziel will be the best thing since air conditioning, but he does think the Browns should go ahead and play the rookie. He writes: "Cleveland will point to winning with Hoyer, but after a nadir such as the Jaguars game, it still can’t be thinking about wanting to re-sign him yet. The worst scenario for the Browns would be if Hoyer struggles a little more, no longer becomes a desired free agent, and they don't find out much about what they have in Manziel."
