Indianapolis Colts nearly signed 'Game of Thrones' actor in 2013 image

Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane is the most dangerous and feared fighter in all of Westeros, the fictional setting of the popular book and television series "Game of Thrones."

Hafthor Bjornsson, the actor who current plays the monstrous brute, is not nearly as murderous as his character, but his physical size, 6-9, 419 pounds, and his athletic background nearly lead to a professional contract with the Indianapolis Colts.

Colts general manager Jim Irsay provided this someone secretive tweet back in May of 2013.

Bjornsson was a skilled basketball player in his native Iceland before a knee injury derailed his career. But he turned to Strongman contests to continue his athletic pursuit, winning the 2010 Strongest Man in Iceland contest. Bjornsson is the latest actor to play the role of "The Mountain." Conan Stevans played the part in season one,  and Ian Whyte portrayed him in season two.

Here is a picture of Bjornsson posing on set next to Lena Headey aka Cersei Lannister. As you can see, he is very large.

The Icelandic strongman made his "Game of Thrones" debut this past Sunday and figures to play a pivotal role in the next episode, titled "The Mountain and the Viper."
