You can imagine the headlines — the rumors, oh the rumors — of headlines revealing that Alabama coach Nick Saban sold his Tuscaloosa home.

That’s exactly what Saban did last year. And guess what? He didn’t go anywhere. Literally. He’s still coach at Alabama and still lives in the house he sold.

The Crimson Tide Foundation — described by AL.com as a “private foundation set up to help fund athletics at UA” —  bought Saban’s house for about $3.1 million, the site reported.

The Sabans bought the house in 2007 and still live in it after the foundation bought it. The foundation has paid property taxes on the house since buying it.

“It’s not all that unusual in the world for universities to provide the housing,” Scott Phelps from the foundation told AL.com. “We want to keep him happy. We think he is the best coach in America.”

According to AL.com, the University of Alabama also owned the two house that legendary coach Bear Bryant lived in while coaching the Crimson Tide.
