Mack Brown has too much personality and football knowledge to step away from the game completely.
So, naturally, he’ll step into a yet-to-be-determined role with ESPN, Kirk Bohls of the Austin American-Statesman reported.
According to Bohls, the former Texas head coach will likely work as a national college football analyst in studio. An announcement is expected this week.

After 16 seasons as head coach of the Longhorns, Brown stepped down after the team played in the Alamo Bowl. Brown went 158-48 at Texas, including a national title in 2005 when the Longhorns finished 13-0 and defeated USC in the Rose Bowl.
The Longhorns named former Louisville head coach Charlie Strong as his successor in January.
Texas won at least 10 games for nine consecutive seasons from 2001 through 2009.
Prior to his time at Texas, the 62-year-old coach was 69-46-1 in 10 seasons at North Carolina. He also coached at Tulane and Appalachian State.
